Strapping Closures

Strapping can be made from a variety of materials. Each one of those materials can be beneficial to a variety of applications. Different types of plastic and metal strapping can use different closures to help seal and secure loads. We offer a large variety of polypropylene and polyester strapping products. The most common type of strapping closures for plastic strapping are wire buckles &  heat or friction sealing.

Metal Seals- Metal seals for plastic strapping come in open seals and closed seals. Open seals are by far the most common

Open Strapping Seal

type of metal seals. Open seals allow users to easily slide the buckle over the plastic strapping after tensions has been applied. Once the buckle is positioned properly, a sealing tool can be used to close and tighten the open seal around the plastic strapping.

We offer the open seals in both smooth and serrated seals. The smooth seals are the most popular and are commonly used with polypropylene strapping and lighter polyester strapping applications. The open serrated seals offer the ability to apply additional friction to the strapping once closed. They are designed for smooth polyester strapping products, but can also be used with embossed polypropylene strapping.

Closed seals need to be threaded on before the strapping is applied, therefore not making them as time efficient as open seals. The advantage to closed seals are the ability to help keep the plastic strapping in line when applying tension. Once tension is applied to the strapping, the closed seal is easily pushed closed to seal the strapping.

Heat Seals- Heat or friction seals are used with battery operated hand-held tools, semi-automatic, and fully automatic machines. They can be used with both polyester and polypropylene strapping. The advantage to heat sealing strapping is not having to continually buy wire buckles for sealing.  The disadvantage is the welding or heating process can take longer than the closure of wire buckles.

Most all machines use a heat sealing method for closure. The heat or friction seal can be adjusted on different sealing machines depending on the type of strapping material being used and the strength of the seal needed. Pneumatic, electric-powered, and battery-powered machines commonly use a friction or heat seal.

Plastic Strapping Information & Uses

Plastic strapping is used in a variety of situations. Plastic strapping is commonly used for load stabilization and unitizing products together. Many people choose to use a combination of stretch film, and strapping to help secure loads of different sizes and weights.

Polypropylene strapping is the most common type of strapping. It can be used with a variety of packages and loads. There are a multiple seal types that can be used with polypropylene strapping. In an upcoming post we will highlight the variety of seals that can be used for strapping. We offer two types of finishes on our polypropylene strapping.

The first and most common finish we offer is an embossed finish. The embossed finish gives extra texture and adds friction to the strapping. The embossed finish offers a diamond-shaped finish that allows more friction and slip resistance to buckles and seals. To much embossing can compromise the strength of the strapping.

Polypropylene strapping is also offered in a smooth finish. All of our Polyester strapping comes in a smooth finish. The smooth finish allows the plastic strapping to be stronger and is intended for heavier loads. Strapping with a smooth finish has a much higher tensile strength than strapping with an embossed finish.

Polyester strapping, commonly referred to PET strapping is the strongest of plastic strapping materials. Polyester strapping is often used as an alternative to steel strapping because of the strength it provides, and the ability to reduce the overall weight of the load. Polyester strapping is used with a variety of hand and machine sealing tools.

We offer a large variety of sealing tools and machines to assist you in sealing your plastic strapping. If you do not find what you need online, feel free to call us at 1-800-441-5090.

U.S. Packaging & Wrapping To Inroduce Full Line of Strapping Products

We are proud to announce the introduction of  a large variety of strapping products. Strapping, also referred to as banding is ideal for a variety of load stabilization situations. Many of our current clients use a combination of stretch film with strapping products to help stabilize loads.

The two types of strapping we will be offering are polyester strapping and polypropylene strapping. Both of these types of strapping offer many benefits and advantages when used in proper situations. Polyester strapping also known as PET strapping has the ability to hold tension longer. Polyester strapping is being made to hold stronger loads that used to be only held with steel strapping. Polypropylene strapping is a more economical option for unitizing objects. Polypropylene strapping is more commonly used for a variety of situations ranging from securing individual packages together to securing whole pallet loads.

We will be offering hand strapping options as well as many machine strapping options. Both are ideal when used in the proper situations. All of our hand polypropylene strapping options will be offered in multiple core sizes with the ability to seal in multiple ways. Users can choose to seal using hand wire buckles, plastic strapping seals, or by using a hand-held friction weld.

Machine grade strapping will be made available in both polyester and polypropylene strapping. Both are great when using on the proper situations. Both machine strapping options will be available in a large variety of core sizes, widths, thicknesses, and break strengths. They are made from quality virgin raw materials to ensure only the highest quality strapping products.

To help complement all of the new strapping products to be offered, we will also have multiple strapping tools and accessories available. Everything ranging from hand strapping tools, to semi-automatic and automatic strapping machines, as well as seals, and strapping kits.
