Our best-selling shrink wrap materials are centerfold polyolefin and PVC shrink wrap rolls. The centerfold rolls are versatile and allow users to wrap multiple sized objects efficiently. In this post we are going to demonstrate with pictures and a video how to wrap brochures, catalogs, or books with centerfold heat shrink wrap. In this post we will be using a centerfold PVC shrink wrap. Click on previous post to view PVC and polyolefin shrink wrap differences.

Starting Snapshot We are using an I-Bar sealer with a 500 ft. roll of centerfold shrink wrap. We will be wrapping a Pampered Chef catalog. Our I-Bar seal temperature is set to the middle heat setting.

Snapshot 2 (5-16-2013 7-36 PM) First, seal the open end of the shrink wrap roll. This makes two closed sides on the roll. The side you have just sealed and the creased side. Once the seal is complete, remove excess film.

Magazine Into Shrink Wrap Insert the magazine into the corner of the sealed side and the fold crease. Once inserted, seal the other side of the magazine and remove excess film. This seal will make three closed sides around the magazine. This seal will also be the beginning seal for your next product.

Seal Last Open Shrink Wrap SideUse the sealer to seal the last open side around the magazine. and remove excess film.

Shrink Wrapped MagazineMagazine with all open sides sealed. Notice the excess film around the magazine. This offers room around the magazine for the film to shrink.

Heat Gun UseApply heat with a heat gun on low settings. Always keep the gun moving and at least 6 inches away from the film.

How Shrink Wrap Can Benefit Your Company and Your Products

Packaging and shipping are among the most common forms of trade, commerce, and exchange in the modern world. Whether it is done by a small or medium sized shipping firm or an individual trader, the ability to securely wrap items for shipping is essential. If one is in the business of shipping goods to distant locations, Shrink Wrap can be a valuable material in ensuring the item arrives in perfect condition.

Heat shrink wrap in particular is a good wrapping material to use. It is used regularly to package all kinds of products. Everything from wrapping frozen pizzas to bundling hardware is easily bundled in heat shrink wrap; its thickness and durability help make it a safe and reliable solution to shipping needs, which in turn can make your overall shipping process more streamlined and efficient.

Indeed, the term ‘heat shrink wrap’ can refer to anything from centerfold shrink wrap, shrink tubing, shrink bags, or even marine shrink wrap rolls. Stretch film is also sometimes referred to as shrink wrap. And while both products are polymers that serve important rolls in the packaging industry, they are completely different products with different uses and applications. Stretch film is a stretchable plastic used to secure and unitize loads. It can also be used to bundle multiple products together. Stretch film is almost always used for a secondary packaging during transport or storage.

Heat shrink wrap products can be used for both secondary and primary packaging. Many firms have the ability to get heat shrink wrap pallet bags to secure and unitize product loads, but that is costly and not time efficient. However, using shrink wrap for primary and secondary product packaging is a much more effective and efficient means of using the material.

Centerfold heat shrink wrap is an example of a premiere form of this polymer. Centerfold heat shrink warp rolls come folded in half-length ways. The folded shrink roll allows for quick and efficient packaging using fully automatic machines or manually operated machines. The fold crease enables users to quickly and easily place products into the crease and use an L-Bar sealer to seal and cut the shrink wrap in one motion. This makes for a quick and efficient shrink wrap process.

There are many other kinds of heat shrink wrap; but, of course, the particular form of shrink wrap you’re interested in will be largely determined by the kind of packaging you want to do. Fortunately, finding a vendor that offers the various kinds of heat shrink wrap is not that difficult. The place to begin your search is the worldwide web. The web allows you to bring all of the vendors that offer heat shrink wrap to your computer screen, where you can evaluate the quality and value of the heat shrink wrap offered. Using the web also enables you to find out the reputation of the heat shrink wrap supplier you’re thinking of working with. And the vendor that has a proven record of delivering high levels of customer satisfaction is the one most likely to meet your needs and expectations.

Quantity Based Shrink Wrap and Stretch Film Quotes!

All of the packaging products we offer come with quantity based discounts. Some of the best quantity based discounts we offer can be found in our heat shrink wrap and stretch film products. A big reason discounts are large for these products is because of the weight and shipping cost related with these products.

Sure, we come down on price per case or roll the more you order, but freight costs is where the savings are. Below are a couple of recent orders we have had and how shipping was a large factor in the customers savings.

A recent order that shipped out called our sales department for a fright quote on 10 polyolefin rolls of heat shrink wrap. A 24 inch 75 gauge shrink wrap roll sells for $209.61  per roll on single rolls orders. The quote for 10 polyolefin rolls is below.
(10) Polyolefin Heat Shrink Rolls 24″ x 75 Ga.= $192 per roll + S & H $135 = $2055 total or $205.50 per roll delivered

A member of our sales team determined through the conversation that the customer was going through enough film to order 20 rolls if they could save more money. Below is the quote for 20 polyolefin rolls.

(20) Polyolefin Heat Shrink Rolls 24″ x 75 Ga.= $183 per roll + S & H $147= $3807 total or $190.35 per roll delivered

The difference in shipping cost was twelve dollars for double the amount of product. There was over a $15 per roll difference in the final price.

The customer went through plenty of the shrink film and had the storage space so they decided to order 20 rolls instead of order what they originally wanted quoted.

Even greater quantity discounts can often be found with stretch film. Because stretch film costs less per case or roll, the shipping costs have a greater effect on the delivered price. This is especially true in orders under 20 cases or 20 machine rolls. A recent customer call for a 5 roll quote on 20″x80 ga.x5000 ft. machine stretch film rolls. Our single roll website price is $59.20. Below is the quote.

(5) 20″x80 ga.x5000 ft. machine stretch film rolls= $57 per roll + S & H $76= $361 or $72.20 per roll delivered

Once again, our sales rep. determined through the conversation that the customer uses enough film to order more if it will save enough money. Below is the following two quotes that were given.

(10) 20″x80 ga.x5000 ft. machine stretch film rolls= $56 per roll + S & H $85= $645 or $64.50 per roll delivered

(20) 20″x80 ga.x5000 ft. machine stretch film rolls= $54.5 per roll +S & H $93= $1183 or $59.15 per roll delivered

The difference of the original 5 roll quote to the 20 roll quote is over $13 per roll. That is a much higher percentage of discount than the polyolefin example above.

One more thing to consider is we pay freight on all full pallet stretch film orders. That equals very large savings when you factor in the per case discount as well.

For any shrink wrap order stretch film order over 5 cases or rolls, we offer quantity quotes. Call our sales department at 1-800-441-5090 to request a quote.
